The Far Right is Not There to Save Women
Across Europe, we’ve seen waves of migration, particularly from Islamic countries, leading to serious concerns about the treatment of women. The stories of sexual abuse, pedophilia, and femicide that have surfaced from certain segments of these immigrant communities are horrifying. Looking for solutions, many people across Europe have turned to the far-right political parties, believing they might be the solution to stopping this influx of Islamic male violence.
However, it’s crucial to recognize that the far-right is not a friend to women, either. While they present themselves as the defenders of European culture, traditional values, and women’s safety, they offer no real solutions to the complex issue of gender-based violence. These parties are often quick to denounce violence when it comes from outsiders but will conveniently ignore it when the perpetrators are native men, particularly white men.
Take Germany, for example. Many native German men, despite the far-right’s supposed commitment to protecting women, are among the biggest participants in the legalized sex trade. Prostitution is widely accepted in Germany, with native men frequently exploiting it. Additionally, these same far-right groups often turn a blind eye to abuse when it comes in familiar forms—traditional marriages, restrictive abortion laws, and the normalization of domestic violence. The far-right promotes a false dichotomy: it presents a world where women must choose between the violence of Islam or the oppression of traditional Christian values, neither of which offers real protection or equality for women.
One of the biggest lies propagated by the far-right is that they can “solve” the migration issue. They argue that restricting immigration will stop male violence against women. But the reality is that the issue is not about where men come from; it’s about what they do once they are in society. Migrants from certain regions may bring their toxic views and oppressive behaviors with them, but these behaviors are not exclusive to any one group of men. Native white men, European men, and men of all backgrounds contribute to the problem of gender-based violence, whether through physical abuse, systemic oppression, or the exploitation of women in various forms.
Furthermore, migration does not make the problem go away, it just moves men around. Even if migrants are stopped at the border and sent back, they would just continue to be violent to women in their home country. Men from all walks of life, whether native or immigrant, rich or poor, religious or secular, continue to harm women. Migration might change the composition of populations, but it doesn’t eliminate the problem. The real issue lies in the fact that men, regardless of origin, are dangerous to women.
The solution is not to rely on the far-right or traditionalism. The solution lies in female separatism—women refusing to engage with men romantically, sexually, or in any other way that reinforces male power structures. We need female-led governments, institutions, and systems that take crimes against women seriously, without excuses or exceptions, regardless of the perpetrator’s background. Women must reject the notion that they must rely on men for protection or security.
It’s time to stop looking to the far-right for answers and instead build something entirely new. A world where women take control, protect one another, and create societies that work for us. A world where the violence and oppression we face is no longer tolerated, regardless of where it originates. Only by embracing a truly female-led society can we begin to dismantle the systems of male violence and oppression that have plagued us for centuries. Women must lead the way to a future where we are safe, free, and equal. ♀
